Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! Thanks to all of our men and women who have severed our country. Today was a great day! Had a lazy morning, ate lunch at Mcalisters, and BBQ at Moms. This is a great way to start off the first real week of summer.

Schools Out

Now that schools out I will babysitting a few days a week and getting ready for our big move. Donny will be working in the office like a real grown up and I get to be out having fun. Although I really need to find a hobby to occupy some time.

Go-Karts

Mom, Dad, Don, and Donny all enjoyed go-kart racing a few weeks ago. They even got to wear some racing outfits. Here's Mom before she went out for her first round of laps. It was crazy windy, but apparently it didn't affect the racing. They all had fun until the circle started making Mom sick. Maybe I will give it a try next time...nah.

Milk and Honey

Got sunburned when we went up to Ouray and found some natural remedies for sunburns on the internet and decided to try them out. First I got a sunburn on my face from being outside at field day and for that I put tea bags on it. It is best if you use black tea but we didn't have any so I just used some mint flavored tea and it really did reduce the redness of the burn. Tea worked well...didn't even look that bad the next day. For my shoulder burn I have been using milk and honey and noxima. The milk and honey is supposed to prevent your burn from peeling. So far so good. I really think that it has worked hopefully we continue to have no peeling. So if you want to try this here is what you can do:
Milk and Honey--You do a mixture of 1cup milk, 1/2cup honey and mix it together leaving it on the burn as long as possible.
Tea--There are two things you can do. 1)Make a pot of strong tea. Let cool in fridge. Soak towel and put on sunburn. Cool tea bags and save for later use on burn. 2)Get tea bags wet put directly on burn. FYI...Tea will stain.
Hopefully we have no more sunburns but if you do need to treat them here are a few things you can try. There are so many more just look for yourself. Enjoy the sun but don't for get the screen.

Outside

Wow. The weather has really turned for the better today. No wind and lots of sun! Sure do wish we had a pool. Seems like a good swimming day. Spending our Memorial Day doing nothing. Having a BBQ at Mom's with Nannie and Papa later tonight. Pretty much haven't done anything today and loving it. Although I could see this getting board really fast. I am only working two days a week so I better find something to do.

Sunscreen

Just to let you know if you use sunscreen it really does help prevent sunburns. Went to Ouray to the hot springs and came home with shoulder sunburn. You can totally tell where the sunscreen got on me and where it was missed. I had the spray kind, which by the way is amazing, and there is a definite line from my back to my shoulder. Next time use the sunscreen! If you happen to get sunburned...black tea, milk & honey paste, and Noxzema are all great in helping in not hurt, not peel, and reduce redness. I will elaborate more later.

Warm!!

I am truly enjoying this warm weather! It has finally reached us and I sure hope that it is not a trick. Love that I can wear shorts and not have to worry about a jacket. This is defiantly my favorite time of the year. I just can't wait until it is swimming weather!

Slip-in-Slide

Even though it wasn't very warm out when we were at this station it sure was fun. Oh how I miss being a kid.

Starbucks

The coffee is great, but the best part about Starbucks is the time spend with friends. I have had many great conversations and get-togethers with special people in my life and I just don't want to forget it. Donny and I can go get a cup of coffee and spend hours there just talking. Today I had a great afternoon with a great friend, Jackie, at Starbucks. The weather was nice and we just talked about everything imaginable. But mostly teacher things. I am going to miss these days that we can just call each other and meet up because we have nothing to do. Jackie thanks for be such a great friend and for listening to all I have to say. I am not going to be sad yet...we still have plenty of opportunity for days like today.

Last Day

Went to the last day of school and spend the morning with the class I student taught with. I can't believe its been a year already and those kids are going to be second graders already. There is such a change from beginning to end of first grade. It is amazing. Did 'field day'/ water activities and even though it wasn't super hot out the kids still had a blast. Just loved my class and will always remember. I know they will miss me (they all said so) and I will miss them. A big thanks to my mentor! She is amazing. No more school and the moving is going to begin soon.

ButterDish

Oh butter dish I am truly sorry for sacrificing you for a knife to cut up apples. I am going to have to replace you since you are now in thousands of pieces laying in the trash. The story goes like this...Donny is cutting up the ingredients for our sweet dinner tomorrow and I am cutting up fruit for our fruit-kebab and I need a knife. So I go to the knife holder that sits under the counter and tip it just a bit to get the knife out. And next thing you know the butter dish went crashing down right next to Donny and the chicken. Luckily no glass made it to the chicken, unfortunately we have no butter dish.

Just Pictures

Some of the pictures that we got while we were touring the townhome is now going to be our new home. People are still living there so ignore the stuff. Its going to be awesome!

Gym!

So Donny came up with this brilliant idea to get up and go to the gym before he goes to work. Monday didn't workout so well because it was really hot in our house and neither one of us sleep that great. So today was day 1 and we actually went over there at 6:15 in the morning. It wasn't that bad once I got out of bed and to the gym. Its the getting out of bed part that suck. Although I did come home and go back to bed. We will see how long this keeps up. Today we just did weight things so we will see what Donny has planned for tomorrow. By the way I am still super excited about the townhome!

Laundry!

It is going to be so amazing to be able to our laundry in our house with out quarters! One thing that I really wanted was to have in apartment laundry and I thought that it was going to be easy to find...my search was harder than I thought. After a while I was ready to settle and not get laundry. Through my persistence I not only found a place with laundry, but a garage too. Now I can't wait to move and be able to do laundry anytime, day or night, or even start it and then go to bed! Speaking of laundry...we really need to do laundry so I am off to start it.

Roommate

Donny and I will not be living in our amazing townhome alone. Donny's friend, Josh, who is also getting a PhD will be living with us. Josh is getting his PhD in Applied Mathematics and apparently all he does is study and work on his research. I think that it is going to work out great and since we have a roommate we were able to get a nice place. Josh is also moving up...currently he lives in a stuido type apartment that shares a kitchen with a roommate. The place reminded me of grown up dorm room because you get a full kitchen. And Josh doesn't like is roommate so he is also excited to be moving. When I started looking for an apartment in Boulder I couldn't believe how expensive small apartments were. It is going to be fun to live there!

Can't Wait

We officially have a place to live in Boulder! While we were there last Monday and Tuesday we searched for a place to leave. Before we went there we only had one place scheduled to look at. Although Donny and Josh thought that it was okay I did not like it at all....it was smaller that what we have not, a lot more money and no laundry. Since I was determined to find a better place I stayed up looking for something to look at the next day, while Donny feel asleep on the couch in our hotel. Yes. Our hotel had a mini living room (and kitchen)...I would have lived there if need be. All my hard work has landed us an amazing Townhome just two miles from the Math/Enginering tower at CU. It also has an attached garage, laundry, bedrooms upstairs, sweet patio, and more. We also have an indoor pool/hot tube, workout room (aka treadmill and weights), party room we can use. So excited that we don't have to think about this part of moving any more. Now to get a job!

Just Because

I couldn't just pick a few so I had to put it into more than one post. I really liked the pictures that we got. Have I mentioned that I love having two cameras to do pictures!

Anna

Yesterday we managed to avoid some wind and get some pretty sweet pictures of Anna. When we went out to take them she wasn't really into it, but once we got started she totally in to it. I told her now we will remember forever what she looks like when she is ten. Even though she doesn't think it matters. I can't believe how old she is getting!

Wind

I can't believe how windy it has been that last couple of days. Hopefully this wind lets up because it is not that fun to be outside and its finally warm out. I actually wore shorts and I wasn't cold. Unlike on graduation day.

Yes. I wore shorts to graduation. It would have been the appropriate type of outfit if we were having normal Grand Junction weather. Since we had some freak May rain and it was barely fifty degrees out (if that) shorts probably weren't the best choice. Surprisingly my legs were not to cold, but my feet were. The reason that I wore them even though it was raining was because I had bought them special for graduation thinking it was going to be warm and I wasn't going to let silly rain ruin my outfit.

Last

Today is unofficially my last sub day. I am assuming that I won't get a sub job next week since there are only three days and they are the last three days of school. I am declaring today the my last day and I am excited. Subbing was great but I am glad to be done. Not something that I would want to make a career of although I know some people who have. Here's to a great last day!

We Made It

Me and Jackie

Graduation!

Yeah! It is official I am done and graduation has happened. We worried about rain for days. The weather was looking up for a while and rain had been in the forecast for days with no rain. Even though it said rain on Saturday nobody really thought it would rain. Its mid-May for crying out loud. It was raining the night before so I had hope that it would stop. Woke up to rain and was really hoping that they didn't call rain delay graduation. That would have meant that Donny and I would have had different graduations. We ended up having a great graduation in the rain! Graduation was short and everyone got to enjoy it in the rain. Jackie had a great speech and also go a third grade job at Wingate! That is super exciting. Pictures to come later.

E-mail

Just a quick post. Not an update that is going to have to wait again. I just emailed several principals in Boulder about my interest in their open positions. Hoping to hear something back and hopefully get an interview or two. Seems that jobs for Boulder are just posted later than here and I am believing that I am going to get a job! Still haven't heard anything about the townhome but hoping Donny hears something tomorrow. More of an update later. Gotta tell all about graduation.

Wow! I need to update this...been kinda busy. Graduation was great by the way, even though it rained. Been Boulder this last few days and found and amazing place. Will tell more later. Got a lot of updating to do. Until then this will have to do.

Tomorrow!

Graduation is tomorrow! I am excited I think that its just a different kind of excitement than other people graduating since I have been done since December and haven't taken a class at actually on campus since last spring. This week has been crazy. Subbing and babysitting all week along with things scheduled in the evenings made it difficult to get everything done. Just finished making two graduation cards and putting some gifts together. Congrats to Jackie and Tawnya on your new jobs...you will make great teachers! Hoping I hear about more people getting jobs its exciting to know that you can graduate and get a job...still. Really hoping it is nice tomorrow. Currently it is raining so I hope that it gets it all out and it is sunny! Totally got some cute shorts to wear and I am going to freeze. With normal weather we won't need to even worry and rain in May. Why does there have to be crazy weather the year I graduate? Weather just hates me this year. Its going to be nice and that's the end of the conversation.

Weather

Weather can you please not rain on Saturday. I would like it to be warm and sunny for graduation. Even though there are has been rain in the forecast for the last three days and nothing has happened can you please stop saying it is. I would appreciate the sun so that I could enjoy wearing my cute shorts that I got. Thanks. Rain all you want next week.

Oh my

It's already almost half way through the month and well I have be slacking major on the blogging. I have not really been on the computer to much just for fun. I don't really know why I haven't blogged because many things have happened since the last one. For now I will leave you with the exciting news of jobs in Boulder! Yeah! There yesterday I finished several applications for some 1st, 4th, and 5th grade jobs. And well I am excited to know its a possibility to get a teaching job. Hopefully I will hear something soon and it will all work out great! More to come later. I have lots of blogs to catch up if I am going to have thirty-one this month. Until next time.

Apartments & Jobs

These are the things taking up my free time. Looking for an apartment in Boulder is hard. I can't believe how expensive they are. Now we have opened our options to possible getting an apartment with Donny's friend Josh who is an applied mathematics PhD student at CU. Which is an option that would get us an apartment that is about two miles from the school. Although there are options close that we could afford its just that they are going fast even if they have a July/August move in date. And Jobs. I just don't know what do to. I really want a secured job before we move so I have been searching nanny jobs like crazy. I know all will work out and everything will be fine but I still can't help but wonder.

Monday Madness

It's Monday again and the week is starting again. This week is pretty sweet...two days off because of parent teacher conferences! Not that I can't just take two days off...but who wants to not make money? That means that I only have to get up early today (already done!) and tomorrow! Sleep in a bit on Wednesday and party Thursday and Friday! Hopefully the weather is nice this week. Last night we searched apartments in Boulder and I think that we have found a few that are potentials...and one in particular that we really like (keeping our fingers crossed). I guess we will see when we go up there later in May after graduation. Here's to a great day!

May!

It's May. Wow where has the time gone? May started of cold and rainy which was not that great. Today was spent cleaning and shopping with mom to prep for graduation party and Don & Theresa coming in town. What does may have in store? The most exciting thing is Graduation! Even though I finished school in December its still going to be awesome! We are also going to be going to Boulder to check out some apartments and hopefully enjoy warm sunny weather! This month is going to go by so fast as before we know it, its going to be June. Here's to a great May!
